Curriculum

Language Arts and Skills: Our program emphasizes recognition of letters, sounds, and vocabulary.  Children spend time exploring our library, practicing listening skills, and expressing ideas.

Social Development:  Children practice sharing, showing respect for others, and being responsible.  Social studies concepts include being community helpers and learning about other cultures.

Physical Education, Health, and Safety:  Children develop coordination and large muscle groups by using a variety of play and games including climbing, jumping, throwing and catching, dancing, and riding tricycles.  Our program practices good health habits and safety rules.

Math and Science:  Through manipulatives, blocks, water and sand play, and cooking projects, children learn to count, sequence, and solve simple equations.  By actively participating in our garden, students acquire an understanding and appreciation for life sciences.  By planting, watering, and harvesting, children learn cause and effect in nature.

Judaic Orientation: The Jewish components of our school are designed to provide an introduction to Jewish holidays and ethics. Using a hands-on approach, Judaism is expressed joyfully in music, stories, rituals, art, cooking, and celebrations.  Our synagogue rabbi and educator participate in the school with our children.

Creative Arts:  By working with a variety of art media, children express ideas and feelings creatively.  They learn to recognize basic colors in English and Hebrew, to use scissors, and be responsible for materials.

Music: Our music program introduces children to rhythm, movement, various musical instruments, and song. Each week children learn Pre-School songs as well as songs for Shabbat and Jewish holidays.
